My fees

With ebooklover, I aim to provide first-class editorial services at competitive prices.

Obviously, my fee will depend on the amount of work needed - the manuscript may need a light edit or a heavy edit, with rewriting suggestions.

I will provide a quote for you, based on the workload and hours to be spent on the project and its subject matter and complexity. Below is a rough guide to my fees, which are negotiable.

Initial appraisal - FREE

I will give a FREE appraisal of your work, outlining its strengths, while pinpointing any weaknesses, with an opinion on how it could fare as a self-published book - and what work needs to be done on the manuscript. Some companies charge around £150 for this initial editorial assessment.

Email me a brief synopsis of your book and the first three chapters, along with a short biography about yourself.

Editing

I can edit your manuscript for a competitive fee, which obviously depends on the level of work needed - a light edit or a heavy one. I will give you a quote based on a rate of £18 an hour - which is well below the minimum industry rate of £29.90 an hour as suggested by the Chartered Institute of Editing and Proofreading (see their table below).

Email me your manuscript - preferably as a Word document or PDF - and I will highlight text and suggest possible changes, using the comment and markup tools, that I believe will improve the manuscript.

I will email you the revised manuscript and you can decide whether or not to accept all, or some, of my editing suggestions . . . at the click of a mouse.

If your manuscript requires substantial editing and re-writing and you are happy for me to do this work, then my quote will be based on a fee of £22 an hour, which is below the minimum industry rate of £34.40 an hour as suggested by the Chartered Institute of Editing and Proofreading (see their table below).

Proofreading

I will give you a quote based on a rate of £15 an hour - which is well below the minimum industry rate of £25.70 an hour as suggested by the Chartered Institute of Editing and Proofreading (see their table below).

I will proofread your manuscript, using markup and track changes tools, to highlight any spelling mistakes, punctuation flaws, grammatical errors and factual inconsistencies.

I will email the proofread manuscript to you to accept the changes before publication.

Cover design

I can help you to create a striking ebook cover - with a photograph or illustration and title - using the latest digital art software.

If you want to sell your book as a printed version on Amazon's Kindle Direct Publishing, I can design both the front and back covers for uploading.

I will give you a competitive quote for this work, based on a rate of £18 an hour.

Formatting your book

I use the latest publishing software to properly convert your manuscript to ebook file format, which also creates the front cover, chapter listing and places any photographs, illustrations or maps - which requires additional formatting.

Your ebook will be ready to upload on to Amazon's Kindle store and other ebook sites.

I can also format your book as a printed version, for uploading as a PDF on to Amazon's Kindle Direct Publishing, along with a front and back cover.

Uploading your book for sale

I can advise you on how to create your own account on Kindle or Kobo, and upload your book on to their sites. I can also help you write a book description and author profile, which are very important on Amazon. I can also advise on pricing your book.

An ISBN (International Standard Book Number) and an eISBN (the ebook equivalent) are optional on Amazon or Kobo but are recommended. I can advise you on how to obtain these in the UK. I can also tell you how to easily monitor your ebook sales on Amazon.

I can give you a competitive quote for these services, based on a figure of £18 an hour.

Press releases and promotion

I can write a press release about your book, which you can send to newspapers, magazines and other media outlets to promote your work.

I will provide a competitive quote for this work, based on a rate of £18 an hour.

If needed, I can also advise you on setting up a Facebook page to promote your book, which is very worthwhile, and using other social media, such as Twitter to spread the word.
